What is a Debit Card?
Before we go any further we'd better explain for those of you who don't know what one is what a Debit Card Actually does and how it is different from a credit card.

It's quite simple really.. a credit card allows you to spend money you do not have in your bank via a 'credit' limit you have agreed with your credit card provider (your bank normally). For example you might have a £500 credit limit on your credit card so you go shopping spend that £500 in one day. The bad news is you will be then paying a huge sum of interest on that £500 you have been given as credit.

A debit card takes the money straight from your bank account which basically means you can only spend what you have in your bank account which means you have much less chance building up huge debt and ending up with a poor credit rating - the best thing is it forces you to live within your means. In a nutshell you are better off with a debit card.
